Just not sure they know they are doing it.Packet Tracer – Configure VLANs, VTP and DTP (Instructor Version) Miagi way WGU really prepares you for the absurdity of life. Here are our pages and pages of notes and changes we need done immediately." We didn't know what we wanted.but seeing this we have a better idea of what we don't want. Oh how they love the freedom of having you deliver a product only to say "Ah, well. Oh how people hate being held accountable. This alpha geek issue is so rampant in my developer experience that I (and many) adopt the belief that getting a clear definition of 'done' from a boss or client is most critical part of the project planning. This person has power over you and they enjoy exercising that power. The power this grants them is that because they didn't define it they are free to criticize you or punish you for failing to meet unspecified expectations. Consider the parent who tells you to clean your room but refuses to define what 'clean' means. Maybe this keeps the fail rate high enough that they don't get labeled as a degree mill and lose accreditation? Whatever the business driver I believe this attracts a certain type of toxic personality. Issue 3: Questions and tasks are needlessly vague. They will not follow any of your citations which back up your opinion. This is about giving them what they want, and only what they want. This is not an exercise of creating an academic paper that is objectively defensible. Issue 2: They don't care about independent thought. Not sure who would pick being a course mentor / evaluator at WGU for 50k or 60k a year instead unless no one else would hire you. If you're top of your field in information security you're +150k and working remote (maybe). The course material is out dated and while I certainly don't like the adage of "those who can't do, teach" it certainly seems to apply here. Issue 1: These people are set in an alternate reality. I guess in the same way that for a biology major it's more about getting experience in labs than the material. If WGU gives you anything, it's practice writing. Those things being true.who cares.Ībility to crank out a 10 page technical document like it's breakfast. Just make sure you're covered legally, personally, professionally, financially. What I've decided to take away from WGU are the following abilities: I honestly almost yelled at the course mentor. I'm wrapping up VLT2 now before going into the final 3 courses (2 + capstone). Well, I'm still struggling but at least now I understand the madness after 3 terms. I hear they are a bitch due to the rubrics. I mean it was much, only about $10,000, but still, it's the principle.Īnyone have any tips on slaying FXT2 and VLT2? I already have the COS and downloaded all relevant material for both courses. ![]() I took out a student loan previously but honestly I should have never done that because I don't want to pay the damn thing back. Oh and also try to figure out how to pay for the last term. This should give me plenty of time to develop a game plan, try to work on some of the tasks for the two regular courses and think about my capstone. I have almost six weeks to knock out at least VLT2 and FXT2 but I had just changed jobs and have a one year old that doesn't like to allow people to have their own personal time and space, the nerve of those babies!! While I could have worked on C706 during that time, which I wound up aceing the first time, I decided against it. I could have probably knocked those out last term but I had a hell of a time getting my CHFI v8 vouchers to work. I only have three classes (VLT2, FXT2 and Capstone).
